The Beginning
Competition Journey

I started training consistently at the tender age of 17. Like many newcomers to the fitness world, I didn’t really have a clue as to what I was doing. After going to the gym for a few months, I finally purchased the services of a fitness professional that showed me some of the fundamentals to reaching my personal fitness goals. I soon found myself reading books, magazines, and journals on the topics of fitness and nutrition to reach my goals. I took it a step further and gained my certification as a personal trainer and began helping others reach their health and fitness goals.

While looking through fitness magazines over the years, I consistently saw a picture of fitness icon Monica Brant. She inspired me to one day participate in a Figure competition. After 6 years of consistently training 5-6 days a week (with very few missed workouts), I decided to set foot on stage at the 2006 NPC Arizona State Figure Championships. Much to my surprise, I won the Figure A Class and the Overall title at my first show. Soon thereafter, I entered the 2007 NPC IronMan Figure Championships and again won the Figure A and Overall title.

Between 2007 and 2009, I entered several NPC Pro-Qualifying contests in hopes of earning the ever coveted IFBB Pro Card (Click here to see my “contest highlights”). With the help and support of my husband, parents, grandparents, and coach Kim Oddo, I successfully won the 2009 NPC Team Universe Figure B Class and Overall title in New York to earn my pro card in September of 2009. It was a dream come true, but it also meant I had to set new goals for myself as I embarked on my pro figure career.

I submitted my letter of interest to compete in the prestigious Figure International at the Arnold Classic in March of 2010. Fortunately, the Arnold selection committee found me worthy to set foot onstage alongside some of the world’s best figure athletes. My next major accomplishment (and other long term dream) as a Figure competitor was to qualify for the Figure Olympia in September of 2010. I am now working hard to make the best of this long term dream and I am excited for what is to come in the future.
